Wire Drawing and GalvanizingWire rod is cleaned by pickling, coated with a drawing lubricant and reduced through a series of tungsten carbide dies to reach the target diameter and tensile strength. For galvanized wire, the drawn wire is cleaned and passed through a molten zinc bath (hot-dip) or electroplated, giving a uniform corrosion-resistant coating. Annealing produces soft wire for tying and weaving, while patenting followed by hard drawing produces spring wire with high tensile strength.
